LGU Gensan extends Community Outreach Program
The local government unit of General Santos City extended its Community Outreach Program (COP) through gift giving and feeding program to the beneficiaries in the male dormitory of the General Santos City Jail in Sitio Lanton, Barangay Apopong, this city, on December 07, 2017.
Spearheading the event were J/SUPT Peter D. Bongngat, Jr. MPA-MD, City Councilor Jose Edmar J. Yumang, Chief of Staff of the City Mayor Mr Enrique Voltaire A. Tiu, Executive Assistant III of the City Mayor Mr. Jonathan Blando, HRMD Officer IV Marlene C. Pelayo, and City Public Information Office Division Chief Rombel S. Catolico.
The said gift-giving and feeding programs were part of the initiatives of the city through the COP in which the city engages in outreach programs with orphans, the elderly in the home for the aged, poor senior citizens, street children, and prisoners.
Such engagements allow the COP to identify the most common needs of the recipients; thus eventually helping the city in actualizing its community social responsibility (CSR).
The jail warden extended his gratitude to the support of the local government unit of General Santos City most especially to the City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera and the local officials in the city.
In his inspirational message, Hon. Jose Edmar J. Yumang who represented the City Mayor said, “We must hope every day, we must dream everyday as this is just a matter of challenge for you to be reformed and to go back to the real life soon as good citizens.”
“We must be happy because your jail warden in just two months made some improvements and reformation in the administration of the jail management in the city,” he added.
“The city mayor and city councilors are ready to help all of you inmates provided that the programs will all be downloaded to each one of you here and for your own benefit,” the City Councilor concluded. (CPIO/Pido/RSC)
