UST-Gensan to rise soon
The local government of General Santos City in partnership with the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Barangay Ligaya officials, conducted a consultation and public hearing last October 25, 2017 for the Phase 1 of the establishment of the University of Sto. Tomas in this City.
The Phase 1 of the establishment of UST to be built in Brgy. Ligaya and Brgy. Katangawan consists of updates to the constituents on the development of the site which included the approval of location and clearance for road network and drainage canal.
Various sectors from the city were well- represented in the event attended by City Councilor Brix Tan, Engr. Bernadette Francisco of City Planning and Development Office, Fr. Dexter Austria, OP of UST, and the geodetic engineers from UST and DCCD Engineering Company.
The school site of the UST covers an aggregate area of 79.9322 hectares reclassified from being agricultural to institutional land.
With the advent of the UST, it is believed that it will bring the desired investment in infrastructure and labor that will boost the local economy with fresh capitals owing to the magnitude of physical construction and economic activities that will create more jobs.
“This is the long hope of every constituent in Barangay Ligaya as we aimed to become an urbanized area in the city. I hope that the engineers will materialize the design and concepts they have made” Barangay Captain Romy Pagaduan said during his welcome address. (CPIO/Pido/RSC/datb)
